Wob-Art Kałużnica is a series of handcrafted insect imitation lures from the Polish brand Wob-Art, designed to reproduce the appearance of a great silver water beetle. Their distinctive body shape, natural colour patterns and carefully painted details create a realistic imitation of an aquatic beetle moving across the water. These compact floating lures are an interesting choice for anglers looking for lifelike insect imitations for surface fishing.
The Kałużnica lures are particularly suitable for chub, ide and trout fishing, although they may also attract perch, barbel and pike. They can be used in rivers and streams, especially along vegetated banks, beneath overhanging branches and in areas where fish feed close to the surface. Their natural beetle profile makes them particularly interesting when fish are searching for insects and other small prey near the water's surface.
The series includes three floating models: MBFSR measuring 2.5 cm (1.0 in) and weighing 2.5 g, DBFSR measuring 3 cm (1.2 in) and weighing 4 g, and DBFSDR measuring 3 cm (1.2 in) and weighing 4 g. All three are surface lures designed to be presented in the upper layer of the water. They can be retrieved slowly to create a subtle wake or allowed to drift naturally with the current. In rivers, the lures can be worked both upstream and downstream, adapting the presentation to the conditions and the position of the fish.
When fishing with Wob-Art Kałużnica, a quiet approach and accurate casting are particularly important, especially when targeting wary fish near the banks or in clear, shallow water. A slow retrieve alongside vegetation, beneath overhanging trees or a controlled drift with the current can help imitate the natural movement of a beetle on the surface. Each lure is individually handcrafted and hand-painted with attention to detail. The available sizes and models allow anglers to adapt their presentation to different river conditions and the feeding behaviour of chub, ide and trout.
