Lake is a wobbler which was first designed for fishing in lakes (as the name suggests); its compact structure, heavy weight and crucian-like shape are features thanks to which it was to become a lake pike killer. And it did! I conducted the first tests with a group of friends in Swedish lakes where we were quickly convinced about the great efficiency of this bulging wobbler. The heavy weight allowed for very slow lead which is how the sluggish spring pike likes it. However, its greatest advantage was that even during trolling it did not dive deeper than one meter. In spring this feature became the most important.
That is how I considered Lake to be highly pike-friendly for a few months until the moment I gave some items to Marek Szymański who, with a group of friends, was then night hunting for the Vistula catfish at fever pitch. Thanks to them it soon came to light that the heavy weight, intensive work and shallow draught are features that make pike bait an ideal weapon against the predators with barbel praying in overflows at night.

At first, it was mainly Marek who was fond of Lake, however, after Wojtek Wawryniuk had caught 2-metre catfish, other catfish anglers had no other choice but to believe in its magic power. Actually, they called it: a turtle. Photos of big catfish caught with the use of this wobbler were numerously presented in Wędkarski Świat and a book entitled Wędkarstwo rzeczne - spinning.
Today, especially in summer season, this wobbler is almost as popular as Invader; it is apparent that the circle of catfish anglers is very wide in our country. Interestingly, in the course of catfish angling in fast overflows the 5 cm Lake is much more efficient, and the 7 cm one is bait for rather calmer catfish areas, such as broad, shallow surfaces on the border of current, where catfish come out at night in pursuit of small fish. Wojtek caught his two-metre specimen with the use of the seven on one of such surfaces, almost in the centre of Warsaw.
I wrote at length about catfish and pike, but we also catch other fish species with the use of Lake, for instance the smallest 3.5 cm model is perfect chub bait in shallow river overflows. This is my absolute no. 1 at famous Kościuszko check dam in Krakow, where everything that goes deeper than 50 cm under the surface stays there forever. An obvious advantage of this small wobbler is that you may throw it really far, which is often the basis for any success in catching timid chub.
