Alaska, is a wobbler produced for the first time a long time ago when I, as a teenage angler, dabbled in wobbler production for me and my friends. In those days, one of my favourite fish was chub. I fished for it passionately in the San and Stobnica Rivers, and, when I had time and money, I was very fond of hunting for chub shoals in the Oder.
The first wobbler, which starts the history of subsequent Alaska, was c.a. 3.5 cm long and painted gold with dark green back. His work function was similar to the present day Alaska, which means that it was strong and directed upstream as well as downstream. Chub hit against it firmly and resolutely. Then, after DORADO had been founded, I knew I had to launch the model into serial production. At first, Alaska line consisted of three models: 2.5; 3.5 and 5 centimetres. As far as southern Polish rivers (such as the San) are concerned, I preferred to fish with the use of the smallest Alaska, as I caught prayling with it several times, which was extremely satisfying; moreover, it is my favourite wobbler for the Vistula ide fishing. A bigger model (3.5 cm) is bait chub and barbel take perfectly. Sometimes, when I fished in the San, Alaska was attacked by barbel more willingly than my favourite Invader.
Also in case of the Oder, the medium Alaska is my absolute favourite in fishing for its chub, especially the blue one. One interesting thing is that I always fish for chub using a thin wolfram hook which is very often useful in case of pike stuck in overflows. Fishing with such a wobbler I won a few beautiful cups in various competitions, e.g. twice in a row I caught the biggest chub of the whole competitions in the VIP Cup organised by Perfekt Sulechów I was invited to.
One of my friends from Rzeszów thinks that 3.5 cm Alaska in PTR colour is the best wobbler for the San trout. To be honest, I prefer trout fishing with the use of Invaders and Sticks, however I checked Alaska and must agree that river fish take them readily.
The largest Alaska model currently produced is a 5 cm and 15 g floating wobbler. It is very good pike bait for in rivers as well as lakes. It is perfect in classical spinning and trolling. Due to the great popularity of this model among Polish and foreign anglers, this year we extend the offer of this model by three new items: size 4, 6 and 8 cm.
During my last stay in Italy my friends and I tested the 8 cm Alaska in catfish trolling. The effect was very promising: within a few hours of trolling we caught four items of catfish, which were not very big, but four catfish bites a boat per a few hours let us see this wobbler as a real catfish killer.
In addition to that, in case of moderate trolling downstream, Alaska reaches the depth of 9 metres, with the use of 0.32 mm braid! The smaller 6 cm model, with the same equipment used, dives to the depth of 5-5.5 m and I think catfish and pike will like it.
I hope the wobblers will be on sale permanently. Certainly, Fishing-Mart clients will be able to check out the new Alaskas at first.
