When I was young and my spinning adventure started, just after the period of pikeperch fascination, I developed a passion for salmonids which has not left me until present. As I lived in the Roztocze, at first my main destination was trout living in those rivers. Then, like each trout angler, I guess, I felt a desire to catch brown trout. It was not an easy task for an angler from the south of Poland, but I succeeded. I caught my first sea trout in 1988, which is almost 18 years ago (how time flies!), and I have experienced many wonderful moments and disappointments. However, the time was certainly not wasted.
Each day by the water brings new experience, and such experience is simply priceless for someone who produces bait. Talking to local anglers, observing their fishing techniques, equipment and, in particular, bait allowed for polishing my own patterns which enable me to catch such great fish as sea trout, and not only in Polish rivers.
My favourite wobblers for Pomeranian rivers are Invaders I have written about numerously, as well as SCOUT, a less popular, however not less effective bait (former Storm). It was on the Parsęta River where the idea to construct this wobbler was conceived, when my Invader dived too deep in one of wooden sections in Rościęcin neighbourhood; Stick worked too weekly and Alaska stirred up the water too intensely.
I realised I needed a wobbler which would be something in between the foregoing pieces of bait. And that is how SCOUT was created; it was a typically river wobbler which really kept to the current, whose action was clear but not too crazy, and which was solid enough to be thrown effortlessly in hard conditions with powerful sea trout equipment. In other words, it is something in between Invader, Stick and Alaska. The first tests carried out a year later on the Parsęta River had confirmed the accuracy of the decision. In many places the wobbler behaved even better than my favourite Invader.
I think sea trout was inclined towards it, as well, as it was on the first day that two specimens decided to try it. Encouraged by the success I decided to extend SCOUT family by a smaller size which would be eaten willingly by trout and other river fish, such as barbel. Thus, the present SCOUT family includes two sizes: 4 and 6 cm. It performs excellently in the San, Wisłoka and Wisłok Rivers, where I fish the most often, but not only here. In the last season, the reaction of the Roztocze river trout to it was great. Moreover, my fellow anglers informed me that they easily catch pikeperch and pike in the Narew River with the 6 cm model. I hope in the following season many of you will try out and like this wobbler which, although insignificant, is really efficient, especially in rivers. It will surely repay with not one great take.
