Lucky John Hogy Hog is a small soft lure with a detailed profile combining features of a crayfish and other small bottom-dwelling creatures. Its short body, multiple legs, fine feelers and broad claws make it well suited to fishing for perch and trout.
The separate appendages move during short lifts, small twitches and slow dragging along the bottom. Hogy Hog can be worked actively, but it also performs well with a slower presentation and longer pauses.
The lure can be rigged on a light jig head or a small Cheburashka rig. It is also effective on a Carolina rig, which allows the bait to move more freely just above the bottom. Brief pauses give the legs and claws time to continue moving naturally.
The 2 cm (0.8 in) version is designed for very light fishing for perch and trout, especially when fish are feeding on small prey. The 4 cm (1.6 in) model creates a more noticeable profile and allows the use of slightly heavier rigs when targeting deeper areas and larger perch.
