Saltwater Surf Fishing Rods
Surfcasting, a type of shoreline land-based fishing from the beach, is a method that is becoming increasingly popular due to the development of new techniques and the availability of new types of equipment. It allows us to catch the most amazing fish specimens found in coastal zones. A half-meter-long bream and a similar-length perch or flounder are common species of fish that are at your fingertips. Well, maybe a little further than that. Fishing from the beach requires the use of specialised equipment, for instance, because of the very nature of this type of fishing. Because of the need to throw the rod very far, it is almost necessary to use heavy loads. Additionally, the water environment-related factors such as equipment exposure to unrelenting saltwater make it more challenging and preclude the use of random equipment. Surfcasting rods combine the maritime character with feeder rod finesse, as they enable extremely long-distance casting (sometimes over 200 meters!) while maintaining a nice deflection to stabilise a dynamic fight with a big fish. They are normally more than four meters in length, and the rig weight is about 200 grammes.
