The tail starts working during a slow retrieve, so the lure does not require aggressive rod movements to remain attractive. Its narrow profile creates limited resistance in the water and suits fishing in lakes, reservoirs and rivers with moderate current.

Rigging and presentation
Lucky John Minnow can be rigged on a standard jig head, a Cheburashka weight or an offset hook. A jig head is a practical choice for regular bottom-contact presentations, while a Cheburashka rig gives the body greater freedom of movement. An offset hook helps reduce snagging when fishing near vegetation, branches and other underwater cover.
For zander, the lure can be worked in steps along the bottom with distinct pauses between lifts. When targeting perch, lighter movements and frequent changes of speed are effective. The larger versions can be retrieved steadily or allowed to descend along drop-offs when fishing for pike.
Sizes for perch, zander and pike
The smallest 2.2 inch / 5.6 cm version is intended primarily for light perch fishing and is supplied in packs of 10. The 3.3 inch / 8.4 cm model, packed in quantities of 7, is a versatile option for perch and zander. The largest 4.4 inch / 11.1 cm version is supplied in packs of 5 and creates a more prominent profile for zander and pike.
