Lucky John Trick Worm is a small soft lure designed primarily for perch and trout fishing. Its thicker ribbed body tapers into a slim, flexible tail that responds to subtle movements of the rig and produces a delicate action during the drop, short lifts and slow presentations close to the bottom.
The ribbed surface increases the movement of the body and creates small disturbances in the water. Trick Worm does not require a fast or aggressive retrieve, making it suitable when fish respond better to a restrained presentation. The material is infused with a garlic scent, adding an olfactory element to the lure.
The thin tail reacts to small rod-tip movements and continues to work during a free fall. The lure can be presented with short lifts, slowly dragged along the bottom or animated with a series of gentle shakes followed by pauses.
When targeting perch, it is worth fishing along weed edges, rocky flats, drop-offs and submerged cover. In trout rivers, Trick Worm can be worked close to the bottom, through slower sections of current and along deeper channels, with the weight adjusted to the flow.
Lucky John Trick Worm can be rigged on a light jig head or a Cheburashka weight. A conventional jig head provides direct control, while the articulated connection gives the body more freedom during the drop and when worked near the bottom.
The lure is also suitable for drop shot rigs and other light presentations where a slow action and longer pauses are important. For cautious fish, use a light weight, short rod-tip movements and extended pauses.
The 2-inch / 5 cm version is supplied in packs of 10 lures. It is a compact option for light perch and trout fishing with small jig heads and delicate tackle.
The larger 2.5-inch / 6.4 cm model is supplied in packs of 7 lures. Its slightly larger profile suits bigger perch and trout, deeper water and stronger current.
Natural colours are well suited to clear water and cautious fish. More contrasting patterns can be useful in reduced visibility, at greater depth or in stained water.
Lucky John is best known for its wide range of spinning lures designed for perch, zander, pike, trout and other predatory fish. The range includes soft lures, wobblers, inline spinners and spoons that can be matched to different venues, fishing depths and retrieval styles.
Soft lures make up the largest part of the Lucky John range. It includes classic paddle-tail lures, slim profiles for jigging, curly-tail grubs, fork-tail lures, worms and imitations of creatures living close to the bottom. Series such as Tioga, Joco Shaker, S-Shad Tail, Makora, Kubira and Hogy Hog allow anglers to select the right action and size for rivers, lakes and reservoirs.
Lucky John wobblers include small models for trout, chub and perch, as well as larger lures designed for pike and zander. Depending on their construction, they can be retrieved steadily, worked with sharp twitches or used to explore deeper parts of the water column.
The range is complemented by inline spinners and spoons suitable for fishing in current, still waters and trout fisheries. Different sizes and profiles make it possible to choose a lure for slow presentations as well as faster searching retrieves.
Lucky John also offers a limited selection of spinning rods, which form a small addition to the brand’s extensive lure range.
The Lucky John range includes lures for light perch and trout fishing, classic jigging for zander and more powerful spinning for pike. When choosing a lure, it is worth considering the fishing depth, retrieval speed, size of the natural prey and current activity of the fish.
