Wob-Art Tubis – Lipless Saltwater Lures

Wob-Art Tubis is a series of handcrafted lipless saltwater lures from the Polish brand Wob-Art, developed for sea fishing and long-distance casting from the shore. Their slender body shape imitates a sandeel, a small marine fish that forms part of the natural diet of predatory species. These sinking lures are designed primarily for sea trout and garfish fishing, as well as saltwater trolling. The belly sections feature UV-reflective paint, adding another visual element to the realistic baitfish profile.

One of the main features of Wob-Art Tubis is its special balance and aerodynamic design for long-distance casting. The manufacturer describes it as a beach-casting projectile and states that casts of up to 100 metres are possible under suitable conditions. The streamlined construction helps prevent the lure from tumbling during flight, an important advantage when fishing from open beaches. Tubis also produces a pronounced flashing action during retrieval. Its tail moves subtly from side to side, while a very fast retrieve causes the lure to roll slightly, creating an additional visual attraction, particularly when targeting garfish.

Wob-Art Tubis is best worked with a relatively fast retrieve interrupted by short pauses. During these pauses, the sinking lure falls through the water column while producing a strong flashing action, imitating the movement of a small baitfish. This retrieve style combines active swimming with brief sinking phases, allowing anglers to vary the presentation according to fish activity and fishing conditions. The lure is particularly suitable for shore spinning for sea trout and garfish, while its design also allows it to be used for saltwater trolling.

Wob-Art Tubis is equipped with one strong, sharp, saltwater-resistant treble hook mounted at the rear of the lure using two split rings. This arrangement provides additional freedom of movement during a fight and is intended to make it harder for hooked fish to shake free. The absence of a front treble hook also helps reduce snagging on vegetation and underwater obstacles. The available SEST model measures 10 cm (3.9 in), weighs 24 g and has a sinking action. Each lure is individually handcrafted and hand-painted, with careful attention to balance, swimming action and finishing details. Wob-Art Tubis is an interesting choice for anglers looking for a long-casting sandeel imitation for active saltwater fishing.
