Wob-Art Rak is a range of handcrafted fishing lures from the Polish brand Wob-Art, designed to closely imitate the shape and colouration of freshwater crayfish. The available colour patterns represent different crayfish species and appearances, including noble crayfish, signal crayfish and freshly moulted crayfish. The latter is particularly interesting because crayfish have a soft shell after moulting, making them more vulnerable to predators.
Rak lures are suitable for targeting zander, perch, pike, trout, chub and barbel. They are particularly well suited to stillwaters and slower sections of rivers, including bends, backwaters and areas with gentle currents. Their realistic crayfish profile provides an interesting alternative to conventional fish-shaped lures when targeting predators feeding close to the bottom.
The range includes two sizes: 5 cm (2.0 in) weighing 6 g and 6.5 cm (2.6 in) weighing 11 g. Both models feature a slow-sinking S SR design. These lures are intended to be worked close to the bottom using short, gentle pulls or small hops that imitate the natural movements of a crayfish. This retrieve allows anglers to carefully explore areas where predatory fish may be feeding.
In stronger currents, the manufacturer recommends adding external weight, such as a Cheburashka weight, to help keep the lure near the bottom. Wob-Art lures are individually hand-painted with careful attention to detail, so slight differences in appearance may occur between individual pieces. The Rak series is an interesting choice for spinning anglers looking for a realistic crayfish imitation for bottom-oriented predator fishing.
